Year 6

Welcome to Year 6!

Year six have been busy finding out about their class pioneers – Charles Darwin and Alan Turing. It was very interesting to explore more about their remarkable lives and pioneering work.

Upcoming Year 6 Trips

We have a busy term ahead with many exciting trips and events planned. Please see key dates below:

  • Albert Hall Maths & Music Workshops – 2nd November (6Darwin) & 8th November (6Turing)

  • Wingham Wildlife Park – 15th November
  • Down House (Home of Charles Darwin)– 29th November (rescheduled from 5th October)

Our Learning

Year 6 have been immersing themselves in their topic: Existing, Endangered, Extinct. It has been interesting to learn about the billions of species on our planet and how some are thriving whilst others have become threatened, endangered and near extinction!

In Geography we have learnt about the Earth’s biomes and the threats to them (in particular global warming). We will be continuing our learning in Science after the half term break focusing on the reproduction of animals and their life cycles, evolution and adaptation, food chains and food webs as well as further developing our understanding of endangerment and extinction.
